A peek inside

I must confess I am a reluctant blogger. Blogging has not come easily to me. I thought I would be a natural because of my propensity for longwinded talks and verbose essays, but blogging is so much more than that. Blogging, I have come to learn, is intensely personal and revealing and I just don’t think I was prepared for that, or ready for it.

I do not consider myself guarded, but the experiences of a traumatic childhood have ingrained in me a heightened sense of awareness for safety’s sake. To my child self that translated to protect thyself at all costs and often that meant not revealing anything that might make me vulnerable. I guess it left me with a tendency to hold some things back.

With this entry I sense a shift. I hope you will be patient with me as I find my groove. Knowing the kind of stuff I have felt the need to edit over the years, the wait should be worth it.
